In my third year studying Bachelor of Elementary Education in Olivarez College, I define “My Assessment 2 Experience” is GREAT. This subject serves as improvement of the previous subject Assessment 1, but it also adds more spices to the subject like applying using Statistics and more Computation.
My Experience in this subject is full of courage, Inspiration, happiness, cooperation and more understanding to others. This subject teaches me how to assess and how to deal with your other students. I learned that “It better to understand than to be understood” It means it better to understand other people than other people will understand you. It also give me inspiration and courage to study more because it is one more years then I will be graduated so I need more effort to study so that I ready for the different challenges as a future teacher to be and I also inspired because of Crush.
Happiness is also a product of Assessment because our teacher Dr. Orata is so approachable to his student and he is the teacher who willing to mingle with his student. Aside from teacher is my classmates also like my fellow BEED Classmates like Gamel, Ate Cristabel, Ate Krizel, Jelay , Chris, Vianca and Rhea. Then my P.E. Major friends like Mel, Alvin and Jovenil.
I also learned to have cooperation with my Classmates during Group Reporting but I also learned bad moments in this subject because one time during our Group report, my fellow student throw me many question which are confusing to answer. Later I realize that it is bad to get mad to my fellow classmates because as a reporter, I should also ready to answer all the questions that my fellow classmates ask. Next time I will be more ready and master my report so that I will answer correctly what my fellow classmates are being ask.
When I read the bible I found An Inspirational verse it said that “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins”1 Peter 4:8 I realize that I should love my fellow classmate and learn to understand each other.
I hope that by the days goes by I will more be approachable and have more understanding to others and by assessment 2 it will improve my personality that helps me as a future teacher someday.
I am currently at third year college and taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education major in General Education and now have a subject “Assessment of Learning 2” where it was the continuation of the “Assessment of Learning 1”. From assessment of learning 1, we learned how to make a test. And now we are taking the assessment of learning 2 that has a computation and statistics.
I was excited when I found out that our professor in “Assessment of Learning 2” was Dr. Orata that had been my professor last semester in one of my major subject “Instrumentation in Mathematics.” In my past experiences with my major subject and with him as a professor, I face all the challenges that he will gave to us and I did it. I’m glad for it because I strive very hard to get a high grades. And when the first semester is over and received my class card, I am thankful because I got a high grade and I really learned a lot of things.
Assessment of learning is usually referred to as the summative assessment. It is used to certify what students know and can do and the level of their proficiency or competency. It results reveal whether or not instructional have successfully achieved the curriculum outcomes. The information from assessment of learning is used, expressed as marks or letter grades. As a future educator, it is important to us because we need to measure the student’s knowledge and achievement if they grasp something from what we had taught.
Unlike last semester, we are not only eight third year students in our in assessment of learning 2. This semester, the other third year students who are taking different majors are now our classmate in the “Assessment of Learning 2.” At first, they are worried because in assessment of learning 2, it has Math. But when the second semester started, the worries they felt at first has gone. As each day passes by, the bonding with my classmates is getting stronger.
During our prelim, we had done some reporting by group which we need to have a motivation that will challenged my classmates’ capability, a report that will have an impact to them, and a report that they can be aware of things all about teaching and assessing their students to be in the future. And from that, I improve my communication skills and the nervous that i felt before was changed into confidence and I am so thankful for that. Assessment of learning 2 help me improve the things that I cannot do before. It enhances my confidence in facing other people and I can use it in my future endeavor. For our final term, we will be having our defense like what we had done last semester. Which we need to have our research output and defend it in front of the panel that Dr. Orata will be choosing. Like last semester, we are thrilled in doing research because it will be a great experience to us and at least we have a background of doing a research.
I want to thank Dr. Orata again for being supportive and open minded professor to us. To our dear God who always giving me strength and blessings that he gave and will be giving to me. To my family who inspires and understands me and also to my classmates, especially the General Education students, without them maybe I can’t deal with the challenges that I faced and I will be facing in the future.
My Assessment of Learning 2 Experience When somebody asks you about the work you will choose in the future, it is vital that the choice should be based on the criteria that reflect your personal values, character and skill. There are a lot of careers that you can choose to do for your future. Though, a career in education is one of the best ones that you can choose. The pay is not the best but there are a lot of reasons that a career in education is a good choice. One of the best reasons that I am proud of is that will be making a difference in kid's lives. As a teacher in the future, I will teach my pupils the important education that they need in order to succeed in this world. In order to achieve this, I have to learn a lot of strategies that will help me to be an effective teacher. One of the most important things to know in teaching is how to assess your pupils or students.
Assessment of learning is a big help for the future mentor. As what I have learned in my Assessment of Learning 1 it t enables the teachers to find out what children understand, how they think, what they are able to do, and what their dispositions and interests are.
Assessment Learning 2 is a continuance of Assessment of Learning 1, yet it already involves a number in this assessment. I am very glad when I found out that our professor in this subject is one of the best teachers that I know last semester, Dr. Orata. I know I have so much to learn with him again. He teaches us not just orally but he let us do activities that are suitable with this subject which we understand more on what we need to know. Dr. Orata is very approachable, he pays attention to his students, and he even teaches us the things that we don’t understand in Assessment of Learning 1.
Computation is another experience that I took in this subject. Dr. Orata teaches us very well, specific and direct to the point. After we compute, we also learned on how to interpret it. We also develop our teamwork in reporting and depend it by group. We all have the chance to participate and recite in the class. Dr. Orata incredibly nice and I could really tell he cared about the subject and all of his students. I feel comfortable in the environment he set up and it was fun every meeting in his class. He was always so clear in his explanations and I could always understand what he was trying to get at. He always came into the classroom bring a positive attitude that set us all going.
In our prelim examination, all questions are connected to what we had learned the whole prelim period. Unlike the other subject, they include some questions that we don’t discuss yet. We will also have our defense in final like what we have done before last semester. This is very helpful for us to develop our critical thinking skill.
I thank God for giving me strength to accomplish and achieve the things that I have to attain and thanks to our professor for sharing a lot of things to us and appreciate our natural initiative and enthusiasm.
It is always a beautiful gesture to say thank you to my Professor Dr.Edmar Orata who has taught for us to face this new challenging subject through this you influence us to put out our best efforts to present our topics. In our once a week meeting you make our learning process as joyous and pleasant experiences. As a student - teacher we become aware the use of assessment by using a wide variety of assessment tools because today's students needed a future educator skillful and knowledgeable to face a continually changing world. I'm glad that i walked afar to my favourite classmates that is why we are progressing the important information of assessment of learning .He sets critical thinking and higher performance this creates a conducive teaching and learning climate for higher attainment. This subject i understand moreover about obtaining information that i will used someday for making decisions about students curricula, programs, school and environmental policy. Preparing the table of specifications and item analysis was improved my mathematical skills , patience and right decision to achieve the correct evaluations of the performance of the students . To be a an effective teacher we need to apply our knowledge in assessment like provide a variety of learning materials and resources , observe and evaluate students performance , assignment and grade classwork ,homework, test and assignments. Dr. Orata explained our topic in descriptive statistics was easily understand that is why we performed well the activities he given us. He assigned us different topic and he encourage us to present in a unique way our topic to understand the lesson crystal clear this kind of strategy we engaging students in discussions deepens their learning and motivation to develop their views to hear their own voice. Our group presented our topic in a talk show style that is why humor in the classroom was enhance students learning whereas my observation to our presentation was caught our classmates attention and shown their interest to the topic we presented. A carefully planned lesson inspire students to be creative nor to be discourage that is why Dr. Orata he give our task head away to be able to come out in artful way definitely we are standard teacher to be. This subject we learn to embrace patience.Patience is key to found better students and powerful teacher because when you study great teacher we learn more caring and hard work because the failure of the students will teacher factors because our calling is to share and help young one nor judging them. This good chance to say thank you for everything your have done and will continue to do to create a better future educator. There is no other profession that so directly shapes the world of tomorrow.
For almost half a year,Dr. Orata taught us a lot of things to remember in assessing and evaluating students accurately. I have learned that it is very important to be knowledgeable enough on how to properly construct assessment materials based on a certain topic or lesson. Our professor mentioned also on when to be subjective or when to be objective in giving grades or evaluation. Constructing assessment tolls requires great knowledge on what to include, what to test and what to evaluate. Test and examitions should not be the only basis in grading the students. It it os only one part on determining if the teaching method is effective or not. Based from the Bloom"s Taxonomy, assessment tools must not only test the knowledge, but also, it should consider other areas as well. Being able to construct good questionaire's reflects the teachers ability to test every single area of the students multiple intelligence skills. Learning is not ability to apply what has been learned and analyze problems which requires thinking. Our professor Dr. Orata also reminded us to be fair on giving grades to pupils and avoid favoritism. Favoritism cannot be avoided, but we must make sure that it will not affect our standards on giving grades. This three-unit subject is packed with a lot of knowledge, information, tips and reminders for us to be effective teachers and being able to evaluate students fairly and objective;y. If the teachers has decided to do performance based test, he/ she should follow the rules and create criteria for judging such test.
Dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called "truth." Dream begins by the person himself and teachers lead people to the right track to reach their dreams. That is why; I thank Dr.Orata for all the learning he shared with us this semester. It is indeed full of inspiration and learning. A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. So, we are very thankful that we have learned many things in our Assessment of Learning 2. That can help us in the future.
Assessment of Learning 2 had taught us many things, like computing grades which will help us in our future profession. Computations that are delivered perfectly by Dr.Orata and after we had our discussion we will be assessed my Dr.Orata by giving seatwork’s or quizzes. It is indeed a good strategy that after discussing he will assess us what we have learned. And in assessment of learning we have faced different strategies to deliver our lesson as a group. Some fail to express what they want, but most did spectacular job on imparting knowledge in a more joyful and meaningful way. All of us were given a chance to deliver lessons and participate at the same time. From assessment of learning 1 we were taught about different things and this learning from assessment 1, was enriched because assessment of learning 2 and we were exposed to different computations that we are going to face in or future career. But, or learning doesn’t stop in computation, also this helped us improved our communication skills. Ever since Dr.Orata has been our professor I am confident that we will be having the benefit in what we pay for. Dr. Orata had been our professor for two consecutive semesters, and it is indeed very inspiring and fulfilling.
That is why, i hope every semester we'll be having Dr. Edmar Orata as our professor. It is really a pleasure to be his student because of the wonderful things he share.
Teachers hold the highest regard for students after their parents. All cultures and religions preach that students are supposed to respect their teachers and should try to learn from them not only what's there in the academic curriculum but also the values of life. Teachers have an important role in building the personality of students and the relationship they develop with them determines the student's academic and personal growth. A positive teacher student relationship could be developed by encouraging a learning environment where the student feels free to ask whatever he wants to and the teacher responds in a manner which is understandable by the student. Therefore it would not be wrong to say that the building block of a strong teacher student relationship is effective communication. The level of respect that exists between the two also has a vital role to play in developing a positive teacher student relationship. A major hindrance to the strengthening of their relationship is the different categories of students in a class. Some of the students are hard working and come to the class to learn but there are others who are aggressive in nature and find it difficult to concentrate on what is going on in the class.
The very first time i saw you I thought your a terror teacher.Strict, inconsiderate, and unpleasant to be with. A lot of wrong insights behind a great teacher like you. For almost three months of being my AL 2 professor i learned a lot of things and what i loved the most is that you give back to me the confidence on how to solve numbers. During my high school days I'm really afraid of numbers but now aside from being the top 1 before of my math 3 when i was in second year college you as my professor boosted my confidence again. I also admire your strategies and techniques on how you teaches us. I really appreciate the way you exert effort on us sir. all those reminders that you've shared on us to become an effective and efficient teacher those are just a simple things from you but for us it is a priceless things which we'll gonna treasure from you sir. You developed our abilities not only in computation but also our communication skills using the medium of instruction. One of my wonderful experiences here in manila is to have you as one of professor who molded me to become a well-rounded future teacher. And before this semester ends i wanna say that I'll gonna miss my professor who is fun of using colorful socks, who loved eating, and a professor who is easy to be with. THANK YOU VERY MUCH DR. EDMAR ORATA.
They say “first impressions last.” Well, I proved that false at my AL 2 class. At first I am very much afraid that I might fail because our professor said that we will dwell much on math. You know what I felt when he said that? My brain wants to get out of my skull as it screams out ‘I don’t want numbers!’ I was really nervous, I thought I would fail the class. I had this bad experience on math when I was in high school. My first year math teacher told us that we were idiots and we were never going to learn math. She even said bad things to us. It took years to cope with that. (Back to the topic…) Well, you know what happened next?
I am really surprised how I can catch the lessons at once. Listening during the lesson discussions is one key. Practice, practice, and practice answering mathematical problems is another. And of course, we cannot be able to learn that much if it wasn’t for the efforts of our Assessment of Learning 2 professor, Dr. Edmar Orata. He served as an instrument in making my impossible dream of learning math possible. From him I learned to be friends with numbers again.
I can never be chums with numbers if it wasn’t for my real life chums who are always there to give a helping hand. There’s my co-English major friends ate Joy, Marie, and Faye. My Gen Ed friendships Chrys, Jelay, Gamel, ate Crissy, Perseus, ate Bell, Vianca and Reyalean. They are always there to answer my queries, help me on something I can’t understand, or just to give me something to laugh at.
To sum it all up, as of February 2, 2012, I am really enjoying my Assessment 2 class. In fact I am really looking forward this coming Monday. New week, new learning. I hope to get more knowledge that I can make use of as I start my teaching career in the very near future. I also do hope to be like our professor, Dr. Orata, who transformed me from a student who hates numbers, to an eager learner of math.
"By learning you will teach; by teaching you will understand." ~Latin Proverb
Enrolling Assessment of Learning 2 subject is such a tremendous challenge. It’s as if telling me to put on every gear I could have because this definitely means an everyday encounter with my fear. It entails butterflies in my stomach and a palpitation on the side. Can you imagine how “math phobic” I am? Actually, before I decided to enroll this subject, I had queries to some of my classmates and to those senior education students who finished taking up Assessment of learning 2. According to them, it’s more of computation. This gives me reason to become hesitant to take up this subject. Merely thinking of numbers, calculation, computation or whatever you call it brings me anxiety. I remember when I had my Math 1; I always wished and even prayed harder that something would come up so we wouldn't have our class. Hope it would rain or have typhoon or emergency meeting…I’d hope everything just as not to have my math class. I have so much fear in math that until now I haven’t taken my math 2. So when I found out that Assessment of Learning 2 is all about computations, I thought of taking this on summer. However, It made me realized that it might burden me more because taking this subject next time means having other classmates whom I wouldn't have any idea about their nature. Moreover, this will just add up to my dilemma. At first, I just sit in the class, trying to test the water. I remember Sir Orata calling me “colorum” because I was attending the class even though I wasn't enrolled. Finally, I decided to be in the class. I still have my fear but the difference is I have confidence that I can cope with this subject through the help of the people around me and of course my very generous classmates. I also sense the encouraging aura of Dr. Orata, a teacher who does not put a toll on his student and does not embarrass someone just because he/she can’t get the topic abruptly. Dr. Orata is sensitive enough to gauge his students learning needs, abilities and capabilities. And I believe this is very crucial in assessing students. I was right, my anxiety didn’t diminish in an instant but I noticed that I wasn’t praying anymore for any things or circumstances that would cause cancellation of the class, besides I even anticipate Al 2 class now. In addition, I don’t even notice the time and time really flies every time we have Al2 class. During the class, I don’t feel any pressure even if my classmates have moved on to the next topic right then and I am left still absorbing the lesson. He considers both the fast and slow learners. He let the fast learners answers some of the queries of the not so fast learners. He even advocates collaborative learning. I commend Dr. Orata in teaching our class. First, he let us write the topic. Second, he explains the lesson without the roundabout, instead he just give us the gist to remember. Third, he gives a lot of drills/practice exercises and finally, gives seatwork or quiz. It’s such a good feeling to realize that I can do this and that I am able to solve problems on my own despite the slow pace. Being able to fully grasp the lesson and able to get right computations bring joy and certain fulfillment. I guess it’s a big factor when you’re learning at your pace and free from anxiety. Dr. Orata is really organized. His work does not file up. He returns checked papers on time and we don’t have to bug him just to know our grades. He gives us variety of learning activities and one of this is reporting wherein we are encouraged to be creative in presenting our topic. Here, he does not only give us chance to report but he also allows us to grade and evaluate each other, what a democratic style.
Assessment of Learning 2 is definitely helpful to us future teachers. It enlightens us on the real meaning of assessment which does not just entail marking or giving grades to students rather it encompasses vital point of teaching –learning process. It presents both the theoretical and practical side of assessment. It emphasized that it’s not just something done after instruction but it is an integral part of teaching. This subject equips us with fundamental learning, “a concise presentation of assessment principles that clearly and specifically relate to instruction, current research and new directions in the assessment field”. Undoubtedly, every bit and pieces of learning I have, had and will have in this subject is my guide and weapon once I am already in the field. Thank you sir for being generous in sharing your knowledge and giving us practical inputs which we need once we are in your shoes. Thank you for preparing us to learn by heart and to apply what real assessment is. I am really grateful for you enable me to conquer my fear little by little. I’m sure there are and there will be more students who will prove how effective you are. Looking forward to finishing Assessment of Learning 2 with a blast!
“There are many things we do not want about our world”. In my case, I really hate numbers and I’m scared of it.Whenever i encountered numbers,my spirit goes up and fly away..When i enrolled Assessment of learning 2 and to think that it's more about computation my heart pump so fast..I just say" oh my! will i do it? will i pass this subject?". But when I met Dr. Orata, my assessment of learning instructor, I was really inspired and enlightened with what he said. “Don’t be scared of it, it don’t bite it’s just numbers. Serve it as your challenge”
when we started our class, gosh! it's computation..I'm thankful that Sir Orata gave us lots of exercises for us to be able to understand the lesson very well.. And for those who cannot follow will be able to practice and know it clearly..And it really tested my patience.
As days gone by, I’m starting to love numbers. I can cope and follow our lesson, especially computation. . Other than that, I experience the happiest moments in reporting. We laugh yet we learned. The important thing is that, we learned from each other and we enjoy learning..Thanks for the help of sir Orata, i now overcome my fear in numbers.:))
By that experienced, I learned that; don’t say that you cannot do anything because you cannot do it but rather say, I can do anything because I can do it..
Thank you sir for giving us the chance to learn more about assessment of learning.. It's really a big help for us future teachers. You do not just teach by rote but you attempt to find new invigoration for the course materials that you are imparting to us..
I am excited that our professor in Assessment of Learning 2 would be Dr. Orata that our professor last semester in our of our major subject. I felt excitement when I found out that Assessment of Learning 2 has Math because of the computations. I really love Mathematics. But some of my classmates are worried because in this subject, it involves Math and they are nervous and scared that they might failed this subject. But I told them that they should not tell negative things because Dr. Orata will guide us.
Assessment of Learning 2 was the continuation of Assessment of Learning 1 where we learn how to make a test. Assessment is one of the important especially for us future teachers. Assessing student is not only giving them grades. We assess our students if we really teach them. For me, the role of assessment is to guide and inspire the students to pursue their dreams. Assessment helps the students discover their skills.
It was such a great experience to have this kind of subject. Here in assessment of learning 2, Dr. Orata always gave a meaningful challenges that we need to deal with. It is very helpful to me because it improves my communication skills and my confidence in facing different people. We do some reporting that will have an impact to my classmates. In each report we do, we need to have a motivation that will challenge them not only to think but also how to cooperate with one another.
For the finals, one of the requirement of this subject is to have a research paper and we will defend it in front of the panel that Dr. Orata will be choosing. Like last semester, we are stir up in doing research because it will be a great experience to us and at least we have a background of doing a research. For that, I want to thank Dr. Orata for his enduring support to us. He teach us to be confident enough in facing the people we will be meeting in the future. He prepare and guide us to be a better teacher in the future.
Before I have enrolled in this subject, I was thinking and hoping, I should say, not to have a subject involving Mathematics or those confusing computations for I really get problematic and stressed whenever I get to see numbers as well as formulas. Funny thing though, it is really impossible for me to graduate without enrolling a subject involving statistics. Since I have no escape but to enroll, I have thought that what is studying if you don’t get to experience those challenging subjects where in the end, all you can get are memories, may it be good or bad and be able to acquire information that could be of great help in the future. So here I am facing the challenges in this subject and struggling to do my best in every way I could. Just like my other subjects, I can say that my experience in this subject was quite memorable. Let me start with my professor. It wasn’t my first time to have him as my professor for he was teacher in my math subject way back when I took up the same course at my previous school which is Regis Marie College. From there I know that he really is a professor who is great in calculations and in doing the math thing. He explains well the lessons and he gives seat works right away after discussing the lesson which appears to be a good thing for me because from the results, we will be able to know if we have understood the lesson that has been taught. He also encouraged student participation in the classroom during discussions and computations. He gives remarks to further help students in improving themselves. From groupings to reporting, I have learned to be responsible enough to fulfill my duty as a member of a group and accomplish the task that was given to me. I have learned that without cooperation, the task will be hard to perform. I have also known those people who take seriously their responsibility as a member of the group. Reporting is crucial as it helped me to overcome my shyness and also helped me to develop my communication skills particularly my listening and speaking skills. I am also grateful to have classmates who are kind and helpful to their fellow students. They help us whenever we find it hard to grasp the lesson or those process involving computations. They have been so understanding that there are just people who don’t get to comprehend easily some matters involving mathematics. Before, I’m petulant whenever I get to see formulas and numbers for it only leads to a long and tiring process of computations but now, I really find it challenging to solve and compute numbers and inch by inch I’m becoming more patient in dealing with numbers. Thanks to this subject, to my classmates, and above all, to my professor who has been great, patient, and approachable to us.
When I was taking my major subject (instrumentation in mathematics). I really hoping that Dr.Orata will be my professor in assessment of learning, because I know that he is a good and excellent professor, also when it comes to numbers. Throughout this semester, I already knew the importance of assessment through the research I conducted last semester, it indicates that improving learning through assessment depends on five, deceptively simple, key factors 1st the provision of effective feedback to pupils; 2nd the active involvement of pupils in their own learning; 3rd adjusting teaching to take account of the results of assessment; 4th a recognition of the profound influence assessment has on the motivation and self-esteem of pupil, both of which are crucial influences on learning; 5th the need for pupils to be able to assessment themselves and understands how to improve.
We also use the general term assessment to refer all those activities undertaken by teachers and by their students in assessing themselves-that provides information to be used as feedback to modify teaching the learning activities. Such assessment become formative assessment when the evidence used to adapt the teaching to meet student needs. I just want to give an assessment analogy “when the cook tastes the soup, that’s formative; when the guests taste the soup, that’s summative”.
In my assessment of learning two (2) I gain a lot of information about it like; purpose of classroom assessment, assessment method, modes of assessment, preparing the table specification, preparing data for item analysis, the role of assessment in teaching, establishing high-quality classroom assessment, matching targets with methods, levels or scales of measurement, descriptive statistics, standard scores and correlation. Of course, with the encouraged of my professor Dr. Orata, thank you so much sir! For sharing us a lot of thing that we don’t know.
“our aim is…….. to involve students as far as possible in the analysis and presentation of their own work. If the teacher is the only person giving feedback, the balance is wrong and the students become powerless, with no stake in their learning.” By: Shirley Clarke.
I only know that I know nothing about our professor in Assessment of Learning 2. But when my classmate says that the professor for the assessment of learning 2 will be Dr. Orata, I feel comfortable even though I don’t have any idea who he is. First day of class in second semester, assessment of learning 2. When I entered the room, I just sat down and observed our professor. While I was sitting, I felt butterfly in my stomach that through my observation I thought he is strict in facing his students. Later on when he spoke about himself and his subject, I realized that he is not that strict as what I am expecting about him. He is nice, kind and generous in facing his students as well as in his teaching. Assessment of Learning is not just about collecting the aftermath of the students. It does not end with just evaluating the students after the lesson, rather it also assesses whether the teaching strategy is effective. Assessment plays a vital role between the student and the teacher for it enables both the learner and the teacher to gauge their own progress. In addition, it mirrors the strength and areas of improvement of the teaching-learning process. Assessment is very important and helpful for me as a future educator. It will help me in different facets of my teaching. Whenever I construct test, I’ll have to consider its quality such as reliability, validity, fairness, positive consequences, practicality and efficiency. It lessens bias in assessing my future students. I am very thankful to you sir Orata for being an inspiration. I am very lucky to have an opportunity to encounter a teacher like you because I have learned a lot. May you continue to inspire a lot of students just like me. THANK YOU AGAIN SIR AND GOD BLESS!
The first time I heard the subject Assessment of Learning, I visualize it as a boring subject since I have no any idea about it. I thought it was just full of concepts and memorizations. I also thought that it will be an easy one. Same with the professor, Dr. Edmar Orata, I was not interested on him at first since I don't know him and also have no any idea about him. It was my first subject being him as the professor.
As time passed by, I've learned many informations about the subject. It made me interested knowing that it includes some computations. Since I love Math, I enjoyed studying and learning the subject. It also challenges me because the professor gave us things to do that may help us enhance our skills and that he gives us questions that will let us think and analyze. He also teaches us to be responsible enough. In this way, he helps us become ready for what awaits us in the future.
One important thing that I will remember about this subject and the professor is that it gave me a chance to change. I may say that I have learned so many things that I may use in the future. But I'm still looking forward for more which I may share to my future students. More than that, the professor himself thought me a very significant lesson, not in his subject, but a lesson in life that I will always remember and treasure. He helped me realize that I can do better and that I can change for the good. I may not show it but I will be forever thankful to my professor because he changes my life and contributes a lot to my future by simply caring.
Continue being an inspiration and a blessing to others Dr. Orata! :)
In my third year in college it was really a big achievement even when it's hard sometimes to cope up with my subjects. I have to motivate myself to make things easier by reading and researching to achieve what my teachers expect from me.
And now, I'm facing a new challenge and that is Assessment Learning 2 which is more on mathematics and this is one subject which needs a lot of concentration and solving problems as well.
As days go by, I am learning to love the subject for I found the best professor in the person of Dr. Edmar Orata, he was a very good teacher for he sets his students to be attentive most of the time, and that's it, easy learning I found out that the subject I hate most is now the subject I love most, and surely, I will be imparting what I have learned from him to my students in the future.
Thank you so much, Dr. Orata for being the best mentor ever!
During the first day of our ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING 2, I thought this subject is very "difficult" because of one thing that I am very afraid of is MATHEMATICS.Dr. Edmar Orata told us that we will deal with or tackle subjects that will make use of numbers and computation. I admit, I am not that good in Mathematics and I am not friends with numbers but as time goes by, I eventually love, literally, the subject. You know why? It is because our professor, Dr. Edmar Orata, has his ways on how we would understand the lesson in the most simplest way. He talks less but I can comprehend the lesson easily for examples, Preparing the table of Specifications, Preparing Data for Item Analysis, Levels of Measurement and so on and so forth. He has his strategies and techniques on how we can get the lesson on the most simplest way possible.
Imagine how you can learn a lot in 3 hours. He gives us exercises that makes the concept clearer. He start from the simple exercises to complex ones. I also learned to compute faster, of course with the use of my calculator also. Because of Dr. Edmar Orata, the subject I feared the most become of my favorites now.
The lesson I've learned from Assessment of Learning 2 can be of good use to a future teacher like me. Not only that I can use this to my future endeavor which is teaching, I can also use this also in conducting researches.
I am very thankful that Dr. Edmar Orata is one my of best Professor. Thank you for helping us to conquer our fears in this subject and sharing your knowledge to us.
A person who gained knowledge that much is important especially if that knowledge can be shared in the future; and I can say that for my future students, I have something to share.
From the months that have passed, from the days that I endowed myself in this subject, from the moments shared by each and everyone in the classroom, learning has been achieved. Teacher to learner, learner to teacher, learner to learner, there is always learning. At first, I made my Assessment of Learning 1 as for my background of this subject. I thought of it only as a subject that needs to be passed. I thought I will have nothing to learn. I proved myself wrong. As I had spent my time in this subject, I wanted to learn more. I wanted to do more from the activities. I can say that I learned so much from the subject. Unlike Assessment of Learning 1, AL2 has given me so much information/knowledge that I have to learn. I enjoyed every minute that I had in this subject. It has been very enjoyable learning the topics discussed. It is clearly seen that everybody is helping each other in learning the different lessons. There is unity in each and everyone in understanding every topic. I thought I will have a hard time implementing the lessons in my mind, but if you are really willing to learn, it is very easy. Having the help of everyone, especially our professor, the lessons are not that very hard to understand.
As for the professor, at first, I thought it would be hard for me to cope with him,but as he went on teaching, I never had this problem of not understanding him. I didn't have the hard time comprehending every word that goes out of his mouth. He explains very clearly the lesson so that everybody could follow. He gives us activities that would really challenge the minds of the students. He gives activities that would provoke the willingness of the students to answer the activities. He is also just in giving grades of the students. He is prompt everything. He is a good example of an effective teacher to his students.
Every moment was so memorable. As I enter and as I get out of the room, a smile will be captured in my face. Learning is developed in every student. Gaining knowledge with numbers, especially for students who hate Mathematics, is very significant. It is very uplifting to a person who gained so much knowledge with connection to computation that they did not have much time coping with it.
I know, all of us are very thankful that we surpassed all obstacles that we have to face in this subject. I personally thank our dear professor, who sincerely taught us the lessons with full effort. I thank everyone for being a part of my learning in Assessment of Learning 2. Everybody made my learning much easier. As I see smiling faces, it made me work with confidence that I, too, can do what they can do. Now, I am looking forward to another day full of learning.
I have never experienced this kind of fun when it comes to learning with connection to computations. It has been an honor learning with my friends and also with my dearest professor, Dr. Orata.
Experienced is the best teacher of all learning. This will help to changed the mind of a person to make them realized that it is very important. These are my experienced in this subject.
First impression last, but in this subject it doesn't last. From the start up to now and I know that until the end.I thought that it was going to be a rough fight with numbers but I'm so glad that I surpass all the formulas that gave to us and with the help of my professor's ability to teach this area. He is so good, he make sure that we all understand the lesson before he will move to the next. He explain well.
I know that I'm not good in Math as classmates does. But I'm grateful to hae this kind of subject because it will help me to guide in assessing the child's learning outcomes.
This is just a simple experienced but this is a wonderful memories with you Sr. / Dr. Orata.
Thank you and continue to inspire others from your profession and become your passion. God Bless
From the start I thought that this will be a challenging semester for me since it involves numbers. During our first meeting, we try to know each other first then make impression to the professor and expectations to the subject as well.
This will be a start of a tormented semester of taking math. My lack of enthusiasm in math as a subject starts during my high school days spent being frustrated because of a teacher who always give a bad feedback especially when I get low grades. And even if I tried hard I really can't understand what he is talking about.
Thanks to DR. ORATA for simply changing my perspective regarding math, you makes me realize that I can conquer my fear of numbers and thank you so much for the patience and encouragements that means a lot to me.
Every time I got correct answers I feel good for that simple achievement and my mistakes motivates me to perform well. I am very happy having a helpful and supportive classmates who answers my questions if I have some clarifications. They won't let me down instead they cheer me up.
Reporting is also a good experience to me because its helps me develop confidence, trust, consideration and teamwork. I have learned a lot thing about assessment, purpose of classroom assessment, methods of assessment, modes of assessment, table specification, preparing data for item analysis, the role of assessment in teaching, descriptive statistics, matching targets with methods, levels or scales of measurement, descriptive statistics, standard scores and correlation. Although sometimes we have an arguments, we never took it personally it doubles the fun of learning.
I did not just learn about assessment and computation one of the best thing I've learned is that I know my self better.
in my three years in college, i encountered this subject assessment of learning , it was a great experience having this kind of subject , because i learned how to assess the students how to approach those different students and how to motivate them well.MR. ORATA is a great prof he motivate us to come in school because his subject is a very important subject it is for us to know the different approaches in different kind of students.
in classroom, during our class , everyone is cooperating ,we are all happy and all of my classmates are interested in this subject. when i always come in the classroom , i always look for alvin, mel and preseus becaue they are the only boys in that class and thy are my also my great friends
Before anything else i would like to thank you Dr. Orata for being a good facilitator/Teacher to us. During my first day of my class in Assessment of Learning-2 it was a very unforgettable moment as a future teacher, because of your good strategies that you use to us to be motivated in this subject (Assessment of Learning-2.
My best experience or learning in AL-2 is good for me even to my classmates, to learn and to know more ideas and strategies in assessment of learning-2, for in this subject, i learned a lot like cooperative leaning/group activities, this strategies of Mr. Orata is a good for me and for my classmates to develop of our critical thinking skills and to be confident in sharing ideas in the different topics of Assessment of learning-2, especially to our specialization.
As i enter the room on my first day in the subject "Assessment of Learning 2", i already felt at ease because my classmates are also my classmates in other Prof. Ed subjects. What I was sort of uncomfortable is the subject itself, which is assessment but with the use of statistics and mathematics. Everytime I hear of mathematics I always get dizzy and lose some will to learn because it is the one subject I find very hard to understand and master. But fortunately, our professor for that subject is none other than Dr. Edmar Orata, who was also my professor in my Math2 (statistics). As soon as I learned that he was our prof for the subject, I felt comfortable once again, for he was the teacher who will tackle every little detail of the topic, thus giving clear understanding towards those who are really willing to learn. He didn't disappoint my expectations, going to our class ready everytime, and making the most of our 3 hours by maximizing the topics that we can discuss. He challenges us everytime, and I like challenges, so I am always eager to attend this class. He also lets us report on other topics, and though that might appear to some as "routines of lazy teachers", he lets us report so that we can understand the topics by ourselves, thus eliminating the criticism of him being a spoon-feeder and at the same time, assessing our progress towards individual learning and group movement. He also lets the students ask the reporters, increasing the knowledge of the students as well as assessing those who are merely the audience of the reporter's topic. He might appear to some as a bias prof due to the incredibly high grades that he gives, but he simply justifies it by his records, giving soon to be educators the inspiration of looking at someone who gives it all everytime and leaves the room with a clear conscience. I can also communicate with my friends as well as my crush in the classroom by teaching them what they do not understand. We also bond during the subject by amusing ourselves after we answer the given seatwork or quiz As far as we have gone towards the subject, it has been smooth sailing, with writing, discussing, answering, reporting, munching and spending time with the BOYS (Alvin, Jov, Mel, Perseus) being the routine for our 3 learning hours that is the Assessment of Learning 2.
The first thing that comes in my mind when I heard assessment is, that's challenging! In my previous/past subject (assessment learning 1) I learned a lot of things about assessment. one is, assessment is a crucial thing and essential for the teacher. some of my classmate when they heard about assessment, they're all scared. because it is more on numbers, problem solving and computation. I love mathematics , i love computating the grades of the children, doing the test and a lot of things. but, it is also depend on the teacher who are willing to take risk to teach us and have long patient. WhenI enter this sem, and have a subject of assessment learng 2. The first thing that I did is I want to know whos is the professor and I heard a lot things about him. I heard that our prof is strict, don't have patient, he does a lot of thing in class, but on the other side he is responsible teacher and he did his job very well. and he is nice! And when the class started and we're all going to meet him. we are all scared because we all know that he is a terror teacher. and some of my classmate really don't want to enroll. when the day passed. we realize that we made the wrong thoughts about him. He is so nice and not a terror, he really for teaching. And when we met him we are now starting to love the subject. because we learnd from him that from being a slow learner he teach us become a fast learner. he doing things so fast, from one topic to oanother that's one of the things that I was impressed about him I will never forget this subject and to my prof who teach us not just based on the subject but in real life situation that we will be experience soon. Thank you sir and we will promise that all of these of what you are teaching to us is we will apply it and never waste it

ReplyDelete“My Assessment 2 Experience”

ReplyDeleteMy Assessment of Learning 2 Experience
ReplyDeleteI am currently at third year college and taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education major in General Education and now have a subject “Assessment of Learning 2” where it was the continuation of the “Assessment of Learning 1”.

ReplyDeleteWhen somebody asks you about the work you will choose in the future, it is vital that the choice should be based on the criteria that reflect your personal values, character and skill.

ReplyDeleteIt is always a beautiful gesture to say thank you to my Professor Dr.Edmar Orata who has taught for us to face this new challenging subject through this you influence us to put out our best efforts to present our topics.

DeleteFor almost half a year,Dr.
ReplyDeleteDream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called "truth." Dream begins by the person himself and teachers lead people to the right track to reach their dreams.
ReplyDeleteAssessment of Learning 2 had taught us many things, like computing grades which will help us in our future profession.
ReplyDeleteA positive teacher student relationship could be developed by encouraging a learning environment where the student feels free to ask whatever he wants to and the teacher responds in a manner which is understandable by the student.

ReplyDeleteMy Assessment 2 Experience
ReplyDeleteThey say “first impressions last.” Well, I proved that false at my AL 2 class.
Orata, who transformed me from a student who hates numbers, to an eager learner of math.

by teaching you will understand."

MY ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING 2 EXPERIENCES
ReplyDeleteEnrolling Assessment of Learning 2 subject is such a tremendous challenge.

ReplyDeleteAssessment of Learning 2 is definitely helpful to us future teachers.
ReplyDeletewhen we started our class, gosh! it's computation..I'm thankful that Sir Orata gave us lots of exercises for us to be able to understand the lesson very well..
By that experienced, I learned that; don’t say that you cannot do anything because you cannot do it but rather say, I can do anything because I can do it..
si pahabol po..
ReplyDeleteThank you sir for giving us the chance to learn more about assessment of learning.. It's really a big help for us future teachers. You do not just teach by rote but you attempt to find new invigoration for the course materials that you are imparting to us..
My Assessment Experience
ReplyDeleteI am excited that our professor in Assessment of Learning 2 would be Dr.
My Assessment of Learning 2 Experience
ReplyDeleteBefore I have enrolled in this subject, I was thinking and hoping, I should say, not to have a subject involving Mathematics or those confusing computations for I really get problematic and stressed whenever I get to see numbers as well as formulas.

ReplyDeleteMy Assessment of Learning 2 Experience
ReplyDeleteWhen I was taking my major subject (instrumentation in mathematics).
My Assessment of Learning 2 Experience
ReplyDeleteI only know that I know nothing about our professor in Assessment of Learning 2.
My Assessment of Learning 2 Experience
ReplyDeleteThe first time I heard the subject Assessment of Learning, I visualize it as a boring subject since I have no any idea about it.
Orata! :)
My Experience in Assessment Learning 2...
ReplyDeleteIn my third year in college it was really a big achievement even when it's hard sometimes to cope up with my subjects.
My Experience in Assessment Learning 2 .....
ReplyDeleteDuring the first day of our ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING 2, I thought this subject is very "difficult" because of one thing that I am very afraid of is MATHEMATICS.Dr.
MY ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING 2 EXPERIENCES
ReplyDeleteA person who gained knowledge that much is important especially if that knowledge can be shared in the future; and I can say that for my future students, I have something to share.
Orata.
God bless everyone.
My Experienced In Assessment of Learning 2
ReplyDeleteExperienced is the best teacher of all learning.
ReplyDeleteDuring our first meeting, we try to know each other first then make impression to the professor and expectations to the subject as well.
I did not just learn about assessment and computation one of the best thing I've learned is that I know my self better.
my experience in assessment of learning 2
ReplyDeletein my three years in college, i encountered this subject assessment of learning , it was a great experience having this kind of subject , because i learned how to assess the students how to approach those different students and how to motivate them well.MR.
I've found this subject interesting
thank you ^_^
My experience in Assessment of Learning-2!
ReplyDeleteBefore anything else i would like to thank you Dr.
Thank you and God bless !!!!! :)

DeleteMy Assessment Experience
ReplyDeleteAs i enter the room on my first day in the subject "Assessment of Learning 2", i already felt at ease because my classmates are also my classmates in other Prof.
ReplyDeleteWhenI enter this sem, and have a subject of assessment learng 2.
And when we met him we are now starting to love the subject. because we learnd from him that from being a slow learner he teach us become a fast learner. he doing things so fast, from one topic to oanother that's one of the things that I was impressed about him
I will never forget this subject and to my prof who teach us not just based on the subject but in real life situation that we will be experience soon. Thank you sir and we will promise that all of these of what you are teaching to us is we will apply it and never waste it
